What Jobs Are Safe From Automation?

The road to automation requires robots to collaborate with humans, rather than simply replacing them altogether. Majority of jobs will still require human intervention to some degree.

The risk of job automation is highest in predictable, manual, and repetitive work environments and in industries with lower regulations.

The risk of automation is lower in unstructured, dynamic, and unpredictable work environments and in industries involving high regulatory scrutiny.

U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs, for example, employed over 600 stock traders at its peak. Thanks to machine-learning algorithms capable of making complex trades, these 600 traders have been reduced to just two. Instead, about one-third of its workforce is now employed as computer engineers.

Amazon, for example, is using 45,000 robots in their warehouses. But at the same time, it is creating thousands of new jobs for humans in its fulfillment centers.

We know that robots are not good at gripping, picking, and handling items in unstructured environments.

Risk of job automation is highest in predictable work environments and in industries with lower regulations. This includes jobs or tasks that are manual and repetitive.

This has happened to manufacturing. It is now impacting over 10.5 million jobs in restaurants, janitorial roles, and warehouses.

In hospitality, the ease of automation is high for repetitive and manual tasks like making coffee or preparing specific dishes. This is particularly true in environments with highly structured processes and menus.

Many startups are working on digital payment and tabletop-ordering software to replace the tasks of cashiers and servers.

Expertise automation and augmentation software (EaaS) is fast replacing entry-level white collar jobs in areas like law (e.g., automatic document analysis and auditing), media (e.g., AI-based news curation and summaries), and even software development.

The good news is that the risk of automation is lower in unstructured or unpredictable work environments. This includes industries involving high regulatory scrutiny.

In healthcare, dynamic decision making in unpredictable work environments makes these patient-facing jobs hard to automate, especially when there is a high degree of emotional intelligence required.

Although trucking is at high risk of automation, this is unlikely to happen widely in the next decade due to regulatory challenges. While technology has the potential to reduce manual labor, it faces regulatory challenges as it still requires a human driver for non-highway driving.

The construction industry, for example, is unstructured and dynamic. It requires human supervision.

Retraining and reskilling employees will be a recurring theme in the future of work. Future-proofing jobs will require constant re-skilling, re-learning, and acquiring of or updated skills and experience so that we can be always future-ready and job-ready and being safe from automation.

5 Jobs That Deal With Floor Plans and Interior Design

When constructing a building, it takes a lot of floor plan analysis to come up with a safe structure and excellent interiors. There are several interrelated professions that share common task namely: engineer, architect, interior designer, carpenter, and foreman.

Since their tasks entail precision especially when it comes to measurements, they need to follow a blueprint and be keen on every detail presented. A blueprint is a piece of design or outline of the structure to be built, which includes the floor plans, electrical connections, piping, and the likes. From there, they are able to formulate an idea on how to carry out their task. Although reading from floor plans is not always applicable especially to those who do not have formal schooling, they can receive instructions directly from the supervisor. Since many of the carpenters are also self-employed, it is not unusual for them to get hired on an on-call basis. They will get paid immediately after the completion of work, which are usually repairs, partitions, and installation of shelves. In some cases, they are given the responsibility to decide what design would perfectly match their interiors.

Destruction and Creation – A New Jobs Hyperbole

What does it take to go from here to there and back again? C’mon, let’s not kid, sugarcoat, or oversimplify our situation. As business model processes and new or current technologies replace legacy ones, it is absolutely essential to question “Creative Destruction.”

Technology, without a doubt, is and remains to be the biggest job creators in the country and quite possibly the world. In fact, our country has been bleeding jobs all over the shores of other countries.

As many hierarchal “talking-heads” made promises regarding the mobile industry and public-private Wi-Fi networks, partnerships were being forged. These clandestine plans included Philadelphia, San Francisco, New York, and other smaller metro areas. They were all devising a way to create hundreds of thousands of jobs and close the digital divide as well. This challenge was being addressed with the implementation of heavily weighed underpinnings.

“Such large deployment are tenuous,” says Rob Preston. Mr. Preston is the Vice President and Editor in Chief of Information Week’s Technical Magazine. He says metro Wi-Fi service providers went bankrupt while equipment vendors sought higher ground. In addition, the government opportunists moved on to the next big project.

Even as the national unemployment rate remains at a disconsolate nine percent, tech vendors and policy makers are taking credit for creating jobs – millions of brand new United States jobs.

Many of you may well be aware, other parts of the economy is losing jobs as fast as the tech industry creates them. These job-creation claims are at best, an overstatement – a Bunch of Bull.

According to Preston, Cloud, Mobile, Apps, and Big Data are all claiming to create millions of U. S. jobs. And yet, the national unemployment rate is 8.3 percent – and most probably, higher than that. A great many people are not counted due to their inability to qualify for unemployment compensation benefits. These folks are most likely to not be counted or added to the roles of which they constantly quote, creating a mis-count.

The jobs creation claims it’s logical for Microsoft to point to the cloud providers. Tech vendors plan to double its’ workforce this year. They’re saying cloud and mobile applications are giving birth to millions of U. S. jobs.

That perplexing boast causes me to wonder; if that’s the case, why is the national unemployment rate at record highs? The United States Unemployment numbers read between eight and ten percent. These numbers are devastating to the U. S. economical system.

IDC reported, in a recent claim, the cloud computing movement would generate more than thirteen million worldwide tech and related jobs by 2015.

Mr. Preston also recorded in his report, Seattle based Vorsite and partners plan to double its workforce before years end. However, IDC and Microsoft argue the scale of public and private cloud economies. To free up funds for new business ventures, they would have to lower customer IT and processing costs. This move will add jobs as well. Their analysis left out the efficiencies achieved through infrastructure consolidation. This missed fact will eliminate IT jobs even if it does create new jobs elsewhere. This author certainly agrees with Rob Preston when he realized putting a number on net gains in this case is more guesswork than science. It’s a non sequitur to ascertain the jobs that are relocated, are expected to prove a more productive ROI.

The idea of mergers, seem to always result in job reduction as the mother company begins eliminating redundant positions of employment. It promised to bring home five thousand outsourced wireless call center jobs. A mix match of skills was attributed to some of the unemployment and purging or the creation system. Alas, they have created five thousand IT jobs plus… While twelve point eight million people in the United States couldn’t acquire gainful employment. So many new jobs – and one point one million others have simply given up on job finding efforts – and just simply gone away.

Big Data CIO’s are looking for business intelligence and Analytics expertise. Another sector, according to a report last year by a U. S. organization, could face shortages of one hundred thousand to two hundred thousand people by 2018. These are the people with deep analytical skills along with more than one million managers and analysts who know how to use the analysis system of big data – allowing for effective decisions. With new jobs come new training and the requirement for re-training for the existing ones.

500 MHz will be freed up as part of a deal with the FCC’s National Broadband Wireless Communications Agency – broadcasters who auction off broadband wireless communications control the underused spectrum. The FCC Chairman treats the proposed auctions like a government jobs program.

“Few areas hold more promise for creating jobs than mobile,” is what he said to a consumer electronics show audience.

Shell Gamers and Mobile Technology are the number one job creation attraction. In a desperate attempt to win approval for a $39 Billion deal to grab T-Mobile, AT&T carried enough gumption to argue how a merger would create thousands of new American jobs, reported Preston.

AT&T attached some of those jobs to the billions of dollars. They said they would spend for the expansion of its mobile broadband network.

The Analysis Group conducted a study for apple. It formulated indirect job-creation numbers. The analysis applied an employment multiplier; the Federal Bureau of Economic Analysis created this tool. The congressional budget office estimated how many 2009 stimulus jobs were created. The fluctuating numbers danced in and between one point six million and eight point four million.

The Analysis Group didn’t include in its job creation estimates bus-drivers, delivery people, managers, butchers, bakers, and candlestick makers – as well as others who may or may not owe their livelihoods to the financial largeness of Apple and its employees, in some way or fashion.

Microsoft is not alone in the job numbers fiasco. Like Apple, the buddy’s are under fire for their labor practices. In some of the factories, offshore supplier’s released the results of a study they commissioned to claim its’ responsibility and recognition for the creation and supporting five hundred thousand U. S. Jobs. The partner and supplier companies created two hundred and fifty-seven thousand of them – they claim to have created glass manufacturers and shipping companies. Third-party App development firms lay claim to forty-seven thousand new jobs, which were absorbed as direct employment positions. Apple’s claim to fame is of course, these jobs would not exist if it weren’t for them.

South Mountain Economics used a multiplier to estimate the App economy employment figures to that of the remaining U. S. economy. It was noted, the multipliers of 2.4 and 3.4 have been utilized to benchmark the job impact of spreading broadband throughout the country, and multipliers compared to other studies. A conservative figure of 1.5 served as settlement. It would appear that every App economy job generates another 0.5 jobs in the rest of the United States economy.

Technet, a lobby group, which represents tech industry CEO’s and other executives, launched a separate study. They found the so-called App economy – third party development of lightweight Apps for Amazon, Google, RIM (Research In Motion), Microsoft, Zynga, Facebook, and Apple along with a host of others – has created and approximate total of five-hundred thousand direct and indirect American jobs since the introduction of the iPhone and it’s App Store creation.

How’s that for a Business Intelligent, and Analytical Analysis of employment figures and job destruction – creation Assessment?

Sentiment Analysis is gauging the mood of Social Networks and is being incorporated by companies monitoring Community-Driven Websites. It definitely takes new tactics and skill sets in order to acquire a position in the new world of IT, Communications, and Analytics.

People do talk, don’t they? All it takes is a cloud…

Til Next Time…

Will Robots Take Our Jobs?

The degree to which robots will take our jobs will largely depend on whether robots can effectively substitute or augment our work.

There are various scenarios at play here that will determine whether robots will take over our jobs:

1. We allow robots to voluntarily substitute our jobs because we are no longer prepared to do the work ourselves. In fact, we are happy for robots to take over our jobs. Examples include military service, car production and manufacturing, space exploration, underwater exploration, duct cleaning, crime fighting, fixing oil spills, investigating hazardous environments, and commercialized agriculture.

2. Robots can be more efficient and effective than humans in doing manual, repetitive, boring, and dangerous tasks. As such, we are involuntarily substituted by robots even when we are still able to work in our jobs. Examples include truck driving, parcel delivery, inventory stocking, and floor cleaning.

3. Robots can be deployed in industries where there are acute labor shortages. There’s no choice but for robots to perform jobs that we don’t have enough qualified people to do the work. This problem will grow exponentially when larger numbers of Baby Boomers retire over the next decade or two. Robots will fill jobs that this generation is abandoning.

4. Robots are deployed in industries where labor cost pressures will dictate the decision to automate. If labor becomes too expensive, then organizations will have no choice but to use lower-cost robots to substitute human labor.

5. We co-develop robots with developers that will augment our work and free us up to do higher value work. This includes decision-making, conceptualizing and analyzing. Instead, robots will co-exist with us in workplaces and transform our jobs into new ones.

6. Robots will not take over our jobs because we cannot teach or program machines effectively to analyze or conceptualize things, be creative and innovative, and be interactive with humans naturally. These are human tasks that cannot be done by robots, yet. Robots cannot look you in the eye, consider peoples’ feelings, moods and behaviors, feel emotional, empathy and sympathy, make a person feel taken care of or loved, establish trust and respect, be an independent critical thinker, and make sense of complicated concepts and the complicated world we live in.

7. We can learn and acquire new skills and change our jobs well before robots take over our jobs. By anticipating these changes and future-proofing our jobs early, we can be future-ready ourselves when robots do eventually come and appear at our door-step. What’s important is to have the skills that can fill an employment vacancy and remain employable.

Let’s stop and think about this for a minute.

Millennials and Gen Z’ers are already changing the job market. They are more motivated by purpose than a paycheck.

Businesses can’t simply throw money at them particularly if they are trying to control costs and maintain profitability levels. It’s no surprise that industries like hospitality, retail and consumer-products are now facing a significant strain in recruiting.

To solve this problem, many countries like the U.S. and Japan are turning to robots to fill many jobs when labor supply falls short. It’s a matter of supply and demand of labor.

Simply put, robots will perform many jobs that people don’t want to do for various reasons. There’s no choice but to rely on robots to replace our jobs.

We voluntary allow robots to replace our jobs.

I can relate to this with my own children. Asking them to clean or mop the floor, or just sweeping the garden can end up in the war of words and regrets later on.

I wish I had a domestic robot to do all these chores!

Let’s take some industry examples.

There’s a growing shortage of truck drivers in the U.S. The trucking industry needs to find and hire over 900,000 new drivers to meet increasing demand. It’s a goal that seems increasingly unachievable given how younger workers are approaching their careers.

That’s why technology companies like Uber are heavily investing in self-driving vehicles. This is critical when there’s a pressing need to transport almost 50 million tons of freight trucked across the country each year.

With the current job climate, robots don’t represent a replacement risk for workers. Drivers will work alongside robots until all human drivers are replaced someday by driverless trucks.

Robots are becoming absolutely critical for solving labor shortages in some industries.

In the restaurant industry, robots are taking over less-desirable tasks like washing dishes and cleaning floors. This has paved the way for employees to develop more technical skills around robot maintenance and fleet management – the high-level stuff.

Robots are, therefore, transforming lower level jobs to higher level jobs.

While old jobs are lost, new jobs are also created.

The net effect of job losses and job creation will depend on where you live, which country and industry you currently work in, your occupation, your level of skills and experience, and your employer’s capability and capacity to automate using robots.

In construction, another industry facing a significant labor shortage, robots are filling the gap in roles like welding. Not coincidentally, construction companies are recruiting for new types of job positions that specifically oversee cutting edge hardware.

U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs employed over 600 stock traders at its peak. Thanks to machine-learning algorithms capable of making complex trades, these 600 traders have been reduced to just two. Instead, about one-third of its workforce is now employed as computer engineers.

At the individual level, robots will take our jobs if we have not adequately future-proofed ourselves and proactively planned for the inevitable presence of robots in the workplace.

Here’s the problem.

We have embraced technology in our lives that we are so thirsty for more. That same thirst for technology will also impact our job security. It’s a two-edged sword that we need to manage.

It is a fact that there is high employment in some industries and there will be high unemployment in other industries.

Our thirst for technology has effectively “re-balancing” or transformed jobs across many organizations, occupations, industries, and countries.

The ease by which labor can freely move across country borders and organizational boundaries can mitigate the impact of job losses if we are prepared to move and stay elsewhere or do different things.

Using the example given above, rather than looking for welders or people with welding skills, construction companies are now looking for people with technical skills and experience to operate high-tech cutting-edge hardware for automated welding.

There will be complexity involved in operating these cutting-edge machines. There will be higher level training needed to up-skill operators to competently operate such machines.

It’s assumed that people with welding skills are now expected to be retrained and to acquire new competencies about automated welding machines if they still want to remain in their occupation.

These welders must be mentally and intellectually capable to absorb new high tech learning. If they cannot “take in” new information and knowledge, then robots will certainly replace their jobs and they will be out of work.

In this scenario, the speed by which career welders have to acquire new skills can be very fast. If they cannot up-skill within a short period of time, then their jobs will definitely be lost to robots or to other people who can acquire new skills faster than them.

The rate of absorption of new skills and knowledge is therefore critical to protect our jobs from robots.

The bottom line is that complacency will kill jobs.

A head-in-the-sand mentality will not help any worker who is faced with the prospect of robots taking over their jobs.

It’s not a question of if, but when.

It’s inevitable; robots are coming for our jobs!

Be prepared for it.

As such, we must future-proof ourselves and our jobs by anticipating all potential impacts of robots in our workplaces and take immediate action to mitigate all known risks.

Welding Jobs And Low Pay: (And 3 Things Can You Do About It Now)

The average welder is now 56 years old.

Young people are not becoming welders because the welding shop in school has been replaced by a computer room (which is crazy, because welding is the glue that holds our world together).

At the same time, a real and sustained boom is beginning in the USA for many reasons – a boom that will last 20 years – a boom that will be screaming out for (and paying big bucks for) welders. Why will the boom happen? What can you do to make $100 an hour? Why are welding wages still so low? Get the answers here.

What is good about welding?

Welding is one of a few crafts or trade crafts that can be utilized in a long list of other trade crafts and locations that don’t normally come to mind. For example: I started welding at 13 to repair motorcycles and cars.

At age 19 I was building gates (gates that are still there and beautiful 40 years later). I became an industrial electrician and welded as an electrician. Artist use welding.

Injection molds used to made plastic parts, are repaired by welders. Stainless piping in food grade factories are installed and repaired by welders. And there are some welders who make $100 an hour doing these and other specialties in the welding industry…

Why are the prospects better than ever for welders?

The boom is under way. It is the oil and gas boom – oil is being extracted by new technologies is such large volumes, the USA is once again the # 1 world producer.

Manufacturing is coming BACK to the USA.

The 3D Printer and other new technologies and the cost of labor in China: it is driving manufacturing home for good. By 2020 the hourly rate for a Chinese worker will be $6.43 an hour.

China will soon more expensive than the USA for Manufacturing.

Few people understand that American workers are 3 times more efficient than Chinese workers. Add in the cost of shipping to the USA and it is easy to see why the U.S. will add 2,000,000 (two million) manufacturing jobs by 2020.

What 3 things can you do to make sure you are a highly paid welder?

Highly Paid Welder Action One:

Start or upgrade your welding career by mastering the hardest and oldest welding process FIRST. Stick or SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) is about 100 years old and is the hardest process to master. It came into it’s own during World War Two because it was adapted to ship building – it allowed Kaiser Steel to build a new ship every 3 days – no wonder the Germans lost!

In some circles, stick welding is considered to be a Dinosaur. Don’t listen to that! It is easy to set up and very portable. It is extremely durable because it is simple. It can be used in a light breeze – most other processes cannot. It can weld just about anything. And you will have more opportunities to earn more money.

Highly Paid Welder Action Two:

Discover welding pipe with stick. Pipe welders are the king of the hill in welding. They make the most money – and they do it for the least work. Don’t get me wrong, pipe welders work hard. However, good pipe welders don’t prepare pipe. They don’t grind. There skill is valuable enough that they often sit in the truck until the next joint is ready. They can’t be risking injury doing anything less than welding pipe.

Highly Paid Welder Action Three:

Get your own rig. A welding rig is a truck with a welder on it. A good rig includes all the supporting tools, cable reels and more. A welder with a rig is a rig welder. A rig welder will make more money because companies will rent your rig and employ you at the same time. Rig welders generally earn $65 to $150 an hour.

Being a rig welder is also a flexible move.

Think about it – a welder without a rig (welders without a rig are called a “single handers”) can also accept work as a single hander – they just park their rig and weld with the company welder if that is how the job is structured. However, when a company needs to rent rigs, a rig welder is the best solution – and the welder who owns a rig can fill the bill. The opposite is not true (obviously). A single hand welder who does not own a rig cannot take a job as a rig welder.

What is the other advantage to becoming a rig welder?

Managing a rig (maintenance, repair and care) starts any welder into the world of “You Inc” – into thinking logistically and strategically about welding – almost like a business. Why is business management a benefit?

A welder who can manage him or herself (as well as a laborer or two and a welder’s helper) can contract on any federal installation (such as a military base). No contractor license is required. It is not uncommon for a welder who is contracting to make $1,000 a day.

WHY is the pay so low for so many welders?

The low pay many welders experience is associated with MIG welding. MIG is often utilized in factory situations where trailers or lifts or custom construction trucks are made (for example). Why is the pay so low for MIG welders?

Here’s why: If you walk into a factory and apply for a job and you interview well – and they have a vacancy for a welder – they may train you to be a MIG welder in one day.

Typically, any skill that can be learned in one day will not pay well.

With that said, I don’t want to run down MIG or MIG welders in this article. MIG is an awesome process. The low end of the MIG pay scale involves a welder making the same simple, non-critical welds over and over (and you can see why the pay is low).

Conclusion:

A certified structural MIG welder is worth more money than a person welding after a day of training in a factory. Sadly, even the skilled and certified MIG welder will not earn a lot of money. Stick pipe welding must be mastered – and when it is, a welder can earn $74,346 to $200,000 or more a year.

What should you do next?

Corporate Welfare Destroys Jobs Long-Term

General Motors’ notice to shutter several plants reminds us that corporate welfare does not produce long-term sustainable businesses. It’s a band-aid and a colossal waste of taxpayers’ funds. Government could apply those funds to help retrain workers, assist them to find new jobs, and minimize loss of income during the transition to their new situations.

Businesses Create Wealth and Jobs

Business is the vehicle owners use to create jobs and provide incomes for employees and shareholders to become consumers and keep the economy growing. A firm must have the right people cooperating in the correct slots headed in the right direction. Its ability to pay its workers and shareholders comes from producing and selling machinery, equipment, goods, and services people want or need.

We should encourage business owners to pay their employees well, become profitable, retain profits, reinvest in the business, and pay dividends to their owners. But we shouldn’t bully firms to keep uneconomic plants open. If there is no market, there are no sales, no funds available. A structurally unsound business should close early while treating workers fairly and respectfully.

Corporate Welfare Destroys Jobs

Governments are not short of wealth destruction tactics. Thus, they give companies huge subsidies to “create jobs” or for other political reasons. They do not see that this is merely another major government-waste outlet. Sadly they do not examine results over time to see that their corporate welfare is anti-competitive and destroys jobs long-term.

Governments’ role is to create level conditions for firms to flourish. They must develop conditions amenable for businesses to want to operate in their jurisdictions. It is absurd and naive to believe bribing companies with handouts is more than a temporary fix. According to the Fraser Institute:

Between 1961 and 2013, the federal [Canada] department of industry disbursed $22.4 billion to businesses… The top 10 recipients received just under $8.5 billion, or 38 percent of all money disbursed… [M]any corporations or their parent companies that receive corporate welfare are anything but start-ups. Also, in many cases, cash-on-hand possessed by the company or parent company far exceeds the total original corporate welfare amount disbursed. This calls into question at least one justification for policy that allows subsidies to business-that taxpayer assistance is required to fill in for market failure and a lack of capital.

Some Blue Chip Companies Get Corporate Welfare

In the USA, corporate welfare recipients include Nike, Intel, Boeing. Indeed, it is outrageous how governments arbitrarily dispense taxpayers funds to large corporations without consultation or accountability. Why not use these funds to cut personal income tax? Here again is an example of complacent electorate allowing government waste.

In my experience in business in many countries, I saw several examples of corporate welfare, primarily because governments and unions did not want structurally unsound firms to close. Sadly, some of these firms received welfare payments for years but eventually closed.

Governments and the public need to realize structurally unsound businesses will not survive. Therefore, the best approach is an orderly closure early that includes retraining and relocating workers, where feasible. Encourage companies to close with utmost care and empathy for employees. The alternative of staying open provides false hope about the business’ future. If firms can survive only with financial aid from taxpayers, they have no future.

Corporate Welfare is Cronyism

Since corporate welfare strategies do not work over the long-term, why do governments continue them? The answer is obvious: Corporate welfare produces positive short-term political results. And most of all, ignorance leads the electorate to believe governments’ propaganda about using tax dollars to fund losing businesses. So, who will educate the public about business realities? To be sure, the government won’t. Thus, firms must take on this role although they start with a significant creditability gap. Sadly, a few greedy, self-serving CEOs, take excessive amounts from their firms in different forms.

History will show giving investment incentives to selected industries as Canadian and USA governments do is myopic. Indeed, Canada’s corporate welfare extends to aerospace, energy, agricultural, and automotive industries, yet with this massive support the auto industry is declining and will continue without more welfare. The alternative to corporate welfare is to eliminate special payments and incentives to businesses, eliminate corporate taxes, remove unnecessary regulations, and allow firms to grow and create jobs.

Hypnosis, the Naked Truth and Steve Jobs

My immediate response to the success story of the late Steve Jobs was how exactly do you define what constitutes a success story? A success story can vary dramatically from one person to another.

For example some people consider finding a job and supporting a family to be their success story, while some people may feel that if they heal from a traumatic event or a terrible accident, then they are success story. So being a success story really depends on the point of view of the individual concerned.

This brings me to Steve Jobs (RIP), as Apple said: “Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know, and work with Steve have lost a dear friend, and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”

True, Steve Jobs was a genius, and he had a massive influence on global markets as well as billions of lives. And as we all know now, there was more to Steve job’s personal life than anyone of us could have known.

When he was 17, Jobs read a quote that went something like: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” This quote made a truly profound impression on him, and since then, for the past 33 years or so, he looked in the mirror daily, asking himself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer had been “No” for too many days in a row, he knew he had to change something.

Telling himself that he’d be dead soon is the most important tool he could think of to help him make all the big choices in his life. Because almost everything; external expectations, pride, fear, embarrassment or failure fall away in the face of death, leaving behind only what is truly important. Remembering that he would die was going to be the best way he knew to avoid the trap of thinking he had something to lose. As he said, you are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

But did he truly follow his heart? Or was he simply suppressing negative emotional feelings deep inside not wanting to deal with them, and as a result he became very ill.

As a hypnotherapist I understand only to well the power of mind body connection. I have to wonder, would it have been possible if he did learn how to deal with his negative emotions, to forgive the people who gave him up for adoption, would our Steve Jobs still be alive today?

I have no doubts. Research has shown clear evidence that stress, anxiety, fear, anger, emotional problems or comfort eating etc, are the biggest trigger to most illnesses. Subconscious self-sabotaging is highly dangerous and can prove fatal!

Think about how many people you know who died of cancer or other serious illnesses?

The disease is created mainly by anger, and rage, vehemently eating us inside. We are all of us familiar with the proverbial saying, “what’s eating you up?”

Cancer is one of the main causes of death in the U.S. Pancreatic, stomach, liver, colon, and lung cancers being among the most prevalent.

Cancers thrive in toxic environments so the real issue for dealing with cancer now is to understand that our anger, depression, suppressed emotions etc can create the kind of toxic acidic blood chemistry in which cancer will flourish. In comparison an alkaline environment will suppress the spread of cancer, and we create that environment based on what we eat, what we think and what we feel. It is literally how badly or how well we treat our bodies.

So how do we create the perfect environment to attack the cancer?

Clearly what we need to do is to start looking after ourselves, cultivating good habits, good eating, and wholesome thinking. As the corner pin to aid us in all these areas we utilize the three H’s:

* Hypnosis

* Hypnosis

* Hypnosis

My heart goes out to all those who loved Steve Jobs. We will never really know if by promoting good mental and physical health he would still be with us but by adopting the right attitude in our own daily lives and looking after our bodies we might strive to keep cancers and other toxic inspired illnesses at bay.
